In the latest addition to the Playbook’s resource library, Building Energy Exchange’s High Rise | Low Carbon Multifamily Deep Retrofit Profiles Report showcases a global survey of deep energy and emissions retrofits of large, multifamily buildings. With a technical solutions matrix a and a detailed compendium of 14 retrofit profiles, this report provides replicable examples and practical guidance for achieving significant energy and carbon savings in the high-rise multifamily sector.

At this year’s 2024 ASHRAE Decarbonization Conference: Decarbonizing Existing Tall Buildings held in New York City from October 21-23, members from the Retrofit Playbook team presented about the foundations of our innovative knowledge-sharing platform in real world projects that have solved the unique challenges of large building decarbonization. In a presentation given by Brett Bridgeland, Senior Director, Sustainability, CBRE on the fundamental steps of the strategic decarbonization framework and a panel discussion featuring project representatives from The Heritage and the 345 Hudson case studies, as well as members from the Building Energy Exchange and Urban Land Institute, ASHRAE members discovered how utilizing the strategic decarbonization approach phases interventions that are appropriate for your building and are responsive to equipment life, asset, and regulatory conditions. Announcing Additional NYSERDA Heat Recovery Funding Opportunities

NYSERDA’s Heat Recovery Project Development Program has added two new categories of funded activities to accelerate heat recovery retrofit projects in New York. The new funding opportunities include: Category 3: Heat Recovery Demonstration – Competitive implementation funding up to $2 million for heat recovery demonstration projects that are impactful, scalable, and cost-effective in New York State. Round 1 proposals are due Thursday, November 7th, 2024 by 3:00PM E.T and must meet these requirements. Category 4: Manufacturer Growth Initiative – Open enrollment funding for solution providers qualified under NYSERDA’s RFQL 5217 – Heat Recovery Solutions. Applicants can receive up to 75% of costs, up to $100,000, to support growth initiative tasks such as market research and adaptation, regulatory compliance, supply chain and logistics, sales and marketing, and business development assistance.
